Introduction of Shenzhen KingRunning Energy Materials Corporation (KRC)

Shenzhen KingRunning Energy Materials Corporation (KRC) is a high-technology company with strong technological support from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) and also a commercialization display window of the latest research outcomes of Division of Advanced Carbon Materials, Shenyang National Laboratory of Materials Science (SYNL) in IMR.
KRC focuses on developing and manufacturing high-quality carbon materials for energy applications, takes full advantage of the intelligence and equipment through the cooperation with IMR and adopts its related research outcomes. The research and development system of KRC provides the technological solution of new energy materials from IMR and accelerates their commercialization to market. On the other hand, it feedbacks the market requirements to IMR for modification and tailoring of the present products and techniques and for further research and development of new materials. The close cooperation between the KRC and IMR helps to develop new products and techniques ahead of the market.
KRC has a production capacity of 600 ton/year novel negative electrode materials for lithium ion battery. The performance of the novel negative electrode materials has been greatly improved by application of the novel material and process developed by IMR and KRC. The stable and quality-consistent raw material supply has been secured by collaborating with a Shandong mining company.
SYNL is the first national laboratory on materials science in China. The Division of Advanced Carbons has been working on carbon and its composite materials for 40 years, and conducting systematic fundamental and applied research on carbon fibers composite materials, pyrolytic carbon and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite, exfoliated graphite and graphite intercalation compound, vapor grown carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes, and carbon materials for energy applications. In particular, with the support from Nanomaterials Special Project of the New Materials Field under the National High-Tech (863) Program, the Division has made great advancements in the research and development of novel negative electrode material for high capacity and large power lithium ion battery, which has become the technological source of sustainable development of KRC.
This excellent research group and its overseas cooperation team are well equipped with high resolution transmission electron microscopy, laser Raman spectroscopy, thermal analyzer, magnetic suspension balance, surface area and porosity analyzer, laser particle size analyzer, electrochemical testing system and small-scale battery assembly and testing system. In collaboration with the Division and by continuous implementation of its research achievements, KRC will become a strong energy materials company with great technological sustainability.
